The stories below are fictional and parallel the emotions felt by those have endured pain in the most unexpected ways. As a young person in the ministry, doing my best to serve and love my leaders, I was often made to feel like my efforts were not appreciated and certainly not good enough. Looking back on it, I can see where these demands on my time and attention were abusive. I stayed in the cycle of abuse because I believed I was doing God’s will. Serving my leaders with my whole heart, even when their requests were exhausting and unhealthy.
